Another design feature unique to Fuel Customs intake system is their 8ply filter, versus the competition’s 4ply filter, offering maximum protection with zero air flow loss. This intake can handle muddy mountain trails to desert sand and is able to run with or without the high flow airbox.
No need to be concerned about durability; the intake system is molded out of a rigid plastic that stands up to heavy turbulence and suction. Fuel Customs provides high-quality hose clamps and powder coated mounting brackets to finish the simple installation. The Intake system comes with installation instructions and requires only a few modifications.
Fuel Customs Yamaha YFZ450R Air Filter Power Intake System will add up to 1.5 horsepower on a stock ATV. It is important to note that the intake system will require fuel tuning. The stock EFI system will compensate for the addition of an exhaust system, but once you begin to increase airflow you will need a fuel programmer to properly tune the fuel curve. We sugest the Vortex Fuel & Ignition Control X10 ECU/CDI as the best fuel programmer to match the Fuel Customs intake. The Vortex ECU for the YAMAHA YFZ450R is a CDI and EFI controller rolled into one module. The ECU controls not only Spark timing and Voltage output but also Fuel Metering and other engine management functions. The result is more power, easier starting and ultimately faster lap times.
