Mobius Knee Braces are designed like no other. After seven years of research, development, and prototyping they created the Mobius X8 Knee Brace; one of the most advanced, comfortable, durable and protective knee braces on the market.
Protection and Durability
The Mobius X8 knee braces are designed in a way that gives overlapping coverage from the bottom of your shin to the middle of your thigh; while protecting the major knee ligaments plus defending the knee against common injuries like lateral bending, lateral rotation, and hyperextension.
At the heart of the X8 design is the Continuous Cable Routing System (CCRS) and Tendon backplate. The majority of the X8's protection comes from the CCRS, which wraps from the top frame, around the back of the upper leg (above the knee), through the hinge and into the bottom frame. When forces are applied to the knee joint, the CCRS becomes tight and resists the excessive movement that can cause injury to the ligaments. The Tendon Back Plate is designed to route the cable around your leg in strategic locations to reinforce the major knee ligaments. The back plate is made from a special flexible Kraton material designed to grip your leg and prevent migration.
The X8 is built on a lightweight frame of 20% glass reinforced nylon shells; designed to be rigid where necessary to resist excessive movement, provide impact resistance and conform to your legs shape creating 360° of protection that won’t rotate or slip. The plush molded EVA foam padding provides excellent impact absorption, leaving no gap exposed regardless of how far the knee is bent and gripping your leg to preventing migration.
The durability of the X8 knee braces will never be called into question. The Dial, Dial Fastener, Extension Stop, and Hinges are made of CNC Forged Aluminum Parts for maximum strength. The CCRS cable is made up of a polyethylene fiber being used in many advanced applications such as the aerospace industry and the military. It is also the latest material of choice to replace Kevlar. It is known for its high tensile, bending and abrasion strength.
Comfort and Mobility
Every riders’ physiology is different. The ideal brace should be customizable to accommodate different leg sizes and shapes. Mobius X8 knee braces are built to offer easy fine-tuning for excellent comfort. The X8 is designed with EVA foam pads that conform to the users unique leg shape providing maximum comfort and control while gripping the users leg and preventing migration. These specially developed closed cell foam pads won’t absorb moisture, so they are odorless and easy to clean. X8 braces come with two different (optional) thicknesses of Patellar Shell Pads so you can get the brace to fit as snug as possible against the sides of your knees. If you are like most people, you have smaller or larger than normal upper and lower legs. Mobius offers Complete Pad Fit Kits for the X8 Braces that allow you to replace the Tibial Shell Pads and Straps from other Kits to accommodate different size upper and lower legs. The Injection Molded Shells are designed to be flexible in places to allow the shells to conform to the users leg for better fit, comfort and stability.
The X8’s three velcro straps are designed to be comfortable and fully adjustable. Durable TPR Pull Tabs are integrated to make the straps easy to use and are numbered to guide you in tightening the straps in the correct order to ensure proper fit. You will be impressed with how tight you can run all the straps without worrying about them binding on you and cutting off circulation. They also add to the support that the X8 provides when out on the track or trail.
The straps, CCRS system and rotary dial on top of each Mobius X8 brace combines to make fine-tuning the fit extremely easy. The dials can even be rotated with a gloves on your hand while wearing your pants. For many riders the ease of adjustment is what closes the deal on the purchase of Mobius X8 braces
Don’t judge a book by its’ cover. At first look you wouldn’t think they would bend that well, but the range of motion and freedom of movement are spectacular. The braces come with optional degrees of extension stops to limit full extension if desired. The extension stop installed on the brace is at 0 degrees, and included are 4, 8 and 12 degree stops.
